"We have been under siege for four days. We cannot move. We have children, and we are unable to provide them with food. The situation is very difficult. Additionally, there is a complete siege and lockdown of the camp. We have relatives and friends with whom we have lost contact. Some of them have left, while others stayed behind. Now, they have begun demolition. The situation is extremely difficult."

13. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Jamal Tamer, Jenin resident:
"We (Palestinians) want peace, and if they (Israelis) truly wanted peace, we would have achieved it by now. How long? It has been 70 years of bloodshed between us and them. Who benefits in the end? Neither they nor us. In the end, we are a people who seek their rights and their dignity. We want to live with dignity and freedom. We are not asking them to give us the moon. We simply want to live in our homeland with dignity and freedom—nothing more, nothing less."

STORYLINE:
Israeli bulldozers demolished houses inside the Jenin refugee camp Friday as the ongoing Israeli military invasion in the northern West Bank city continued into a fourth day.
Smoke was also seen rising from another house.
Israeli soldiers and vehicles were fanned out in the muddy streets of Jenin as displaced Palestinian families left the area.
"We have been under siege for four days. We cannot move. We have children, and we are unable to provide them with food," said local resident Jamal Tamer.
"The situation is very difficult," he added.
Since the beginning of the Israeli raid into Jenin on Tuesday, at least nine Palestinians have been killed, including a 16-year-old, and 40 were wounded, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
The military said its forces carried out airstrikes and dismantled roadside bombs and “hit” 10 militants—though it was not clear what that meant.
While violence frequently flares in the city, this is Israel’s largest operation there in years.
The already tense situation in the West Bank has intensified significantly since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023 and the subsequent Gaza war.
Around 830 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, armed clashes, and extremist attacks in the West Bank since then, according to the Health Ministry in Ramallah.
