Eighty years after Holocaust: Jewish life in Germany still faces threats | DW News

Today marks 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp, recognized in Germany as a nationwide day of remembrance for the victims of the Nazi regime. But even now, Germany’s synagogues and Jewish institutions still require police protection due to antisemitic attacks and threats. The prospect of the far-right AfD performing strongly in German elections next month have only added to the sense of unease.
