Deputy director of the Sheba Medical Center comments on condition of three released hostages

STORYLINE:
The first three Israeli hostages released on Sunday following a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel are in a stable condition and are able to focus on reuniting with their families, staff at the Sheba Medical Center said.

The deputy director of the Sheba Medical Center said late on Sunday that the medical condition of the three returned hostages allowed the staff to to focus on what is truly important to them and their families, "which is being together."

Dr. Yael Frankel-Nir, Deputy Director of the Sheba General Hospital told the media the hostages’ condition meant they could postpone delving into further medical examinations.

A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip took effect earlier on Sunday as Hamas released the first three female hostages it held for 15 months of the devastating war with Israel.

It went into force at 11:15 a.m. local time (0915 GMT) after an almost three-hour delay, was brokered by mediators the United States, Qatar and Egypt in months of indirect talks between the warring sides.
