"It’s a complicated moment definitely. You know, our industry’s unfortunately suffered a lot of setbacks as of late between strikes and COVID and, you know, work slowdowns and shifts within the industry. So this is I think it’s an important moment to honor, recognize this catastrophe and the great contributions by the firefighters and first responders, etc.. That needs to be at the forefront of any other celebratory spirit. But at the same time, we have to… It’s a very resilient community and we have to lift each other up in this moment and we have to help the industry to continue to flourish."

"Look, it’s hard to celebrate things anyway, even aside from what’s happening in L.A., but what’s happening around the rest of the world when, you know people are suffering. So it’s already kind of difficult to, you know, it’s not difficult, but it’s certainly a complex thing to, you know, be sort of so focused on the work that you’re doing when you know other people are suffering. But it certainly feels even closer to home, you know, with the fires that have happened in L.A. because we all know so many people there who have lost their homes, etc.. So and I think it’s, you know, I think it’s a good sign of respect just to postpone some things and just, you know, let’s just get the fires out at least. Yeah, very least, you know? So it’s pretty tragic what’s happening there."

STORYLINE:
"The Brutalist" star Adrien Brody says it’s a "complicated moment" to be celebrating film as awards season continues in Hollywood.
The actor was discussing the timing of awards season, where his acclaimed drama "The Brutalist" has been sweeping trophies, and the impact on celebrations of the wildfires in California after the pandemic and the strikes in the last few years.
"Our industry’s unfortunately suffered a lot of setbacks as of late between strikes and COVID and, you know, work slowdowns and shifts within the industry. So this is I think it’s an important moment to honor, recognize this catastrophe and the great contributions by the firefighters and first responders, etc.. That needs to be at the forefront."
Guy Pearce – one of Brody’s co-stars in the acclaimed drama – echoed the sentiments of the film’s leading man, adding that it was always difficult to celebrate art.
"It’s hard to celebrate things anyway, even aside from what’s happening in L.A., but what’s happening around the rest of the world when, you know people are suffering.
