RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
++SOUNDBITES SEPARATED BY WHITE FRAMES++
POOL
Washington, DC – 15 January 2025
1. Attorney General nominee Pamela Jo Bondi is sworn in at confirmation hearing
++WHITE FLASH++
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Pam Bondi, Attorney General Nominee:
"If confirmed, I will fight every day to restore confidence and integrity to the Department of Justice and each of its components. The partisanship, the weaponisation will be gone. America will have one tier of justice for all. "
++WHITE FLASH++
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen. Dick Durbin, (D) Illinois:
"Are you prepared to say today, under oath, without reservation, that Donald Trump lost the presidential contest to Joe Biden in 2020?"
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Pam Bondi, Attorney General Nominee:
++INCLUDES SHOT ANGLE CHANGE++
"President Biden is the president of the United States. He was duly sworn in and he is the president of the United States. I was an advocate for the campaign and I was on the ground in Pennsylvania and I saw many things there. But do I accept the results? Of course I do."
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen. Dick Durbin, (D) Illinois:
"I need to know that you tell the president no if you’re asked to do something that is wrong, illegal or unconstitutional."
++WHITE FLASH++
6. Wide of chamber
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, (D) Rhode Island:
++BEGINS ON PREVIOUS SHOT/SHOT ANGLE CHANGES++
"It would not be appropriate for a prosecutor to start With a name and look for a crime. It’s a prosecutor’s job to start with a crime and look for a name. Correct?"
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Pam Bondi, Attorney General Nominee:
"Senator, I think that is the whole problem with the weaponization that we have seen the last four years and what’s been happening to Donald Trump. They targeted Donald Trump. They went after him, actually starting back in 2016.
++WHITE FLASH++
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Pam Bondi, Attorney General Nominee:
"That will not be the case. If I am the attorney general, I will not politicize that office. I will not target people simply because of their political affiliation. Justice will be administered even handedly throughout this country. Senator, we’ve got to bring this country back together. We’ve got to move forward or we’re going to lose our country."
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, (D) Rhode Island:
Yeah, I think the concern is that weaponization of the Justice Department may well occur under your tenure. And we want to make sure that that’s not the case."
++WHITE FLASH++
11. SOUNDBITE (English) Sen. Chris Coons, (D) Delaware:
"Can you clarify for me that in following ethics and the law, you’d be willing to resign if ordered to do something improper?"
12. SOUNDBITE (English) Pam Bondi, Attorney General Nominee:
"Senator, I wouldn’t work at a law firm, I wouldn’t be a prosecutor, I wouldn’t be attorney general if anyone asked me to do something improper and I felt I had to carry that out. Of course, I would not do that. That’s one of the main things you learn when you’re a young prosecutor is to do the right thing. And I believe that has continued with me throughout my very long career."

Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, Pam Bondi, is insisting at her Senate confirmation hearing that Trump had been targeted by years of investigations.
She pledges that she would not "politicize” the Justice Department if confirmed as the country’s chief federal law enforcement officer.
