6. SOUNDBITE (English) Jane Millichip, CEO, BAFTA – on how to summarize the nominations:
"It’s almost impossible. There’s so much variety there – what a genre-busting year. I mean, who’d have thought we’d have such a big year for music, musicals and films with music in them, whether it’s a biopic or ‘Wicked’ or, you know, ‘Emilia Pérez’ – it’s extraordinary. There’s the rise of sci-fi and body horror, you know, it’s just amazing. And then actually, quite a few horror movies, you know, ‘Nosferatu,’ ‘Heretic.’ I mean, it’s just extraordinary breadth of genre. But I think also the artistic expression at play from our directors, a lot of big state of the nation subjects dealt with very differently, some beautiful character pieces. I mean, we’re really spoiled for choice. And I don’t envy our members, actually, because I used to be a voting member and I’m I’m not anymore and I’m not allowed to have opinions publicly. But other than to say it’s a tremendous year and the breadth and variety is a real testament to the talent in the community. It’s amazing."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Sara Putt, Chair, BAFTA:
"I think they’re all demonstrating fantastic storytelling. There’s some brilliant storytelling going on and a real variety of it. And I think as well, there’s also fantastic skill behind the camera in terms of those craft roles, beautiful cinematography, amazing production design, costume, editing, etc. It’s a really, really great year."

McKenna-Bruce: "For me. I’m just chuffed that ‘Wicked’ is in there!"
Sharpe: "I thought it was really exciting – some, like, surprising decisions, but it’s like a really fun year because there’s no, like, big juggernaut that’s just kind of dominating."
McKenna-Bruce: "Yeah, so much variety."
Sharpe: "It’s nice to see Jessie (Eisenberg) and Kieran (Culkin) from ‘A Real Pain’ getting a shout out. My friend Sarah Brocklehurst (producer) got a nomination for ‘The Outrun, ‘ which is great."
McKenna-Bruce: "Yes, yes, love Sarah."
Sharpe: "’Sing Sing’ – enjoying the love for ‘Sing Sing’."

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Jane Millichip, CEO, BAFTA – on the reasons for the huge success of "Conclave" and "Emilia Pérez":
"It’s hard to say, but they are both exceptionally made films, with scale. I think, you know, that they are popular and beautifully made. So I think that the junction of being kind of quite populist movies, but also beautifully made, high production values. But I think, you know, it’s great talent on display. I mean, there’s very little, you know, they’re such wildly different films. But what it shows is that we can hold that in the film community. You know, no film has to adhere to a certain stereotype to be either very populist or very high quality. So, yeah, long may it continue."
