STORYLINE:
Hundreds of mourners gathered on Wednesday for the funeral of six Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp who were killed by an Israeli airstrike late Tuesday.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least six people were killed by an Israeli airstrike in the Jenin refugee camp late Tuesday.

The Israeli military confirmed a drone strike in the area but gave no further details.

Israel has carried out months of raids in the camp in what it calls a crackdown against militants.

The dense urban camp was built to house Palestinian refugees from what is now Israel who fled or were driven out during the 1948 war surrounding Israel’s creation.

The Palestinian Authority, which administers parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, has little control over Jenin.

At least 840 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli fire since the conflict broke out, according to Palestinian health official
