"We’re from Calvary Disaster Relief. That’s what we do. We, we will go anywhere in the world that we feel we’re being called. We just got back from Florida and from North Carolina, from Hurricane Helene. We spent weeks out there. We will go out there to any disaster and we just help people recover and whatever they need. And we just – the big thing is let us pray for you. We want to lead people to Jesus if we can. That’s what we want, that’s what our mission is, that’s our goal."

"We’re bringing them stuff. We’re bringing them supplies. We get food, burritos. We got buckets of of toilet paper and soap and just necessities. And we’re – cases of water, batteries, gasoline, whatever they need. And we’ve been up here. This fire started, I believe, Tuesday. We’ve been up here since Wednesday every day. And we’re getting up here 6:00 in the morning. I’ll get home tonight about seven. It’s just we want to do God’s work, that’s all. It’s all we’re doing."

"This is different. We’re usually going to areas that have been flooded like hurricanes, tornadoes. Houses are – the roofs will be ripped off. We’ll go cover the roofs, we’ll rip the carpet out. We’ll rip the drywall out so it can dry, not get black mold. This is different, this is total devastation. There’s nothing much we can do other than pray for the folks. And, well, that’s the whole goal anyway. Up there, when we’re doing a flooded area, we’re going to use our skills to patch roofs, cut trees down. We got chainsaws, we got we got it all. Much like Samaritan’s Purse were smaller scale. We’re using our skills to go help them go open a door so that we can pray for them. Different stuff – This is our very first fire that we’ve really come out to work on, but we’re trying to figure out what’s the best thing we can do."

STORYLINE:
On Tuesday, Thomas Martin drives into Altadena, California, offering food, supplies and prayer to some of the first responders sifting through the charred remains of a neighborhood.
Martin is part of the faith based organization, Calvary Disaster Relief, who have helped other recover efforts in the American Southeast after Hurricanes Helene and Milton made landfall.
"We’re using our skills to go help them go open a door so that we can pray for them," said Martin, describing the organization’s mission.
Since Jan. 7, fires across Los Angeles have killed dozens, forced tens of thousands to flee their homes, and destroyed more thousands of structures.
The four biggest fires around the nation’s second-biggest city have scorched more than 63 square miles (163 square kilometers), roughly three times the size of Manhattan. Of these, the Eaton Fire near Pasadena was roughly one-third contained, while the largest blaze in Pacific Palisades on the coast was far less contained.
