4. SOUNDBITE (English) Jeff Murrell, rescuing animals displaced by wildfire:
"As long as they allow us to continue feeding animals, rescuing animals and placing animals, I’ll keep doing it. And then we also have to get animals back to their owners. So that’s probably going to take place as soon as they lift the evacuation orders."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Jeff Murrell, rescuing animals displaced by wildfire:
"Dangerous and difficult, yeah. Because I have a big truck and trailer that I have to take through really narrow windy roads. And then I have to have a way to turn it around and rescue the animals and then take them out safely. And so on the first night we had five horses, we had to get through a super narrow road, steep inclines, and we’re seeing the fire glow on the other side of the hill, and we don’t know when it’s going to come over. It’s the danger part of it. It is what it is. Animals deserve a chance too. A lot of times the owners aren’t home or the owners have to leave. They can’t take big animals. They don’t have the means to do it."

STORYLINE:
Jeff Murrell told the AP that he has rescued approximately 300 animals that were displaced by the wildfires causing destruction in the Los Angeles area. Murrell rescued animals in the Topanga Canyon area of Los Angeles County including, he says, "horses, pigs, llamas, big animals, little animals"

He says it’s a task that’s both difficult and dangerous. "Because I have a big truck and trailer that I have to take through really narrow windy roads. And then I have to have a way to turn it around and rescue the animals and then take them out safely."

He said things got especially difficult on the first night of the fire. "We had five horses, we had to get through a super narrow road, steep inclines, and we’re seeing the fire glow on the other side of the hill, and we don’t know when it’s going to come over. It’s the danger part of it."
