"Here we need to pay attention and to speak frankly, we were not seen there (as a NATO country). And I believe this is one of the reasons why we are at war. Meaning that no one feared that Ukraine might ally with someone. Putin understood that no one would stand up for Ukraine. He understood that his army is bigger and he can destroy us. But Ukrainian army of strong people and Ukrainian people impressed the whole world. Today, we speak about this and we want this. I spoke about this with President Trump that we don’t want it (the war) to be repeated again. It seems to me that the most important thing is for our people to return home from abroad."

"Please do not draw conclusions about the policy of the United States of America. Remember, Ukraine was told that Patriot systems can and are only in NATO countries. We must work and do everything so that Ukraine receives decent security guarantees, worthy of our people, that could stop Putin. We will work on this."

STORYLINE:
Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen reiterated her country support for Ukraine Wednesday during a visit to Kyiv where she met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who said he had the right to demand security guarantees from the world.
Prior to the meeting, Valtonen visited Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv which was struck by a Russian missile in July this year.
