"Originally, we launched Bird Buddy in 2021, right? Smart bird feeder helps you take photos of your backyard birds, connects you with them, identifies them through A.I., asks them to collection them, it’s sort of like Pokémon. But like from our customers, we’ve learned that they really care about all nature around their home. So, what we wanted to do is create like this natural camera product. You put it anywhere you want in your backyard, it’ll deliver a beautiful moments and insights and alerts of all nature in your yard, right.”

“So, I think the beautiful thing here is that, like LLMs, in general, right. Are very un personalized in a way, right. They lack a certain context. Whereas with this, our video or audio is the context for the conversation, right. So, our cameras capture all the data and then the AI makes it super relevant and interesting, right. It kind of breathes life into the nature of that’s in your yard."

“So, one of the cues for us to build this was one of our customers saying in an interview that having nature on a first name basis completely changed their attitude towards it, right. So, you give your dog a name, Rex, right. And then it’s kind of your your puppy, right. And as long as nature has a name, it’s a different game, right. So that’s kind of what we’re trying to create for all nature around your home, right. It’s really give them a voice, a personality and a way to kind of compete for our attention.”

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, a new AI garden camera spots wildlife and gives nature-boosting advice via a chatbot.
STORYLINE:
Petal AI garden camera, created by Wonder, is a new biomorphic camera, designed to capture the secret life of nature in our gardens.
It uses so-called “Nature Intelligence”, an advanced AI layer, to interpret the sights and sounds of wildlife.
It also comes with an optional solar roof, has a flexible stem and universal clip that means it can be fixed almost anywhere outdoors.
Aside from catching images of nature flourishing in their garden, owners can also interact further using a so-called “Nature chat” chatbot to learn more.
