"We call it Land Aircraft Carrier. So, let’s dive into this vehicle. It has a six-wheel set up. All wheel drive, also with a two axles differential lock, so it can go off road. But what’s amazing is it can store a full capability EVTOL into the trunk. This a first vehicle can get the aircraft into the trunk, right?"

“First is we integrate the air module and the lander module together as one car, like we call it EVTOL flying car, it’s more towards to the future. But because of the boundary of the capability of the battery of this engineer issue, it’s not a very good product, actually. So, we want to combine it into like to function together. You can drive the car and the car has the capability to go like the daily drive, no problem. And this it can release the dead weight, I mean no use weight, you don’t need to put it into this EVTOL. So it can fly, can have more capability.”

Is it car? Is it a plane? Well, it’s something in-between.
At CES 2025, China’s XPENG AEROHT has unveiled a James Bond-style modular flying car, combining both driving and flying.
STORYLINE:
XPENG AEROHT’s Land aircraft carrier modular flying car combines both an EVTOL and a six-wheel off road vehicle that acts as its mothership.
Owners can go for drives, and when they feel like it, they can unload the EVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing craft) from its rear and take a flight.
XPENG AEROHT’s co-founder and vice president Tan Wang says the EVTOL can fly “tens of kilometres” and has a battery life of around 20 minutes.
“What’s amazing is can store a full capability EVTOL into the trunk. This a first vehicle can get the aircraft into the trunk,” he says.
Part of the motivation was the short range, meaning owners can leave dead weight on the ground and recharge in the land carrier once they’re finished flying.
“Because of the boundary of the capability of the battery of this engineer issue, it’s not a very good product, actually. So, we want to combine it into like to function together,” says Wang.
Wang says they are currently seeking certification in China and hope to begin sales in 2026.
It’s aimed at personal use, but also emergency workers.
“When you fly, you can go to a gorgeous place and release the flying car, release your own aircraft, and you can fly in the air to see a different world,” adds Wang.
