STORYLINE:
Palestinians in Gaza Strip gathered Tuesday to pray for the five people killed overnight as Israeli strikes continue to hit the Palestinian enclave.
A strike in Maghazi killed two people earlier on Tuesday while another three – including two women – died when their house was hit in Bureij on Monday night.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah that confirmed the figures.
Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza has killed over 45,800 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry that says women and children make up more than half of those killed. They do not say how many of the dead were militants.
The war began when Hamas-led militants stormed across the border in a massive surprise attack nearly 15 months ago, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting around 250. Some 100 hostages are still inside Gaza, at least a third of whom are believed to be dead.
