"This morning is one of the most difficult mornings that we had as families of hostages, as people of Israel, when together we had one of the most murderous mornings this week when 3 people were murdered inside Israel and also we saw some of the list (of hostages due to be released in a first phase) that we want to see out front, outside as if we can choose between one hostage to another. I attend to you, Mr. Trump, you are the most powerful and strongest leader in the world. I ask you to continue and support, continue in supporting us as Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East."

STORYLINE:
Mothers and daughters of families with hostages in Gaza held a silent protest on Monday to demand an immediate deal for their release.

The protest came after Hamas announced a list of names of 34 hostages who could be released in the first stage of any ceasefire agreement.

It is unclear how many of those named remain alive.

Taking part in the protest, Ofri Bibas Levi, the sister in law of hostage Shiri Bibas and aunt of Ariel and Kfir Bibas, the youngest Israelis held in captivity in Gaza, said that with all the rumours of release it was important to continue protesting and to "demand a comprehensive agreement that will return all of them."

The U.S.-led ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas have repeatedly stalled.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press ahead in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed.

But the militants, while greatly weakened, have repeatedly regrouped, often after Israeli forces withdraw from areas.

Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv on Monday, relatives of hostages gave a statement asking for US President Trump to secure a deal that would include every hostage.

"We ask you, please don’t let any hostage stay behind," said Merav Leshem Gonen, mother of hostage Romi Gonen.

Around 250 hostages were abducted during the Hamas-led militants’ attack into Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. They killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians.
