STORYLINE:
Awards season has officially begun as stars and creators from TV and film gathered on the red carpet at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards Sunday.

Jean Smart and Zoe Saldana were among those arriving and showing off their fashion.

After a rocky few years and the disbanding of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes have seemingly stabilized. Last year’s comeback edition, hosted by Jo Koy, was widely panned, but it delivered where it counted: Ratings rebounded to about 10 million viewers. Sunday comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the ceremony. Glaser is coming off a successful appearance at the Comedy Central Roast of Tom Brady and likely to take aim at a few Hollywood heavyweights for laughs.

Although there aren’t one or two films dominating the season like last year’s “ Barbie” and Oppenheimer” matchup, there was a lot of star power on the carpet. Nominees including Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, Denzel Washington, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Selena Gomez were expected to attend.

Jacques Audiard’s Netflix musical “Emilia Perez” is the lead nominee with 10 nods, followed by Brady Corbet’s postwar epic “The Brutalist” with seven, and Edward Berger’s papal thriller “Conclave” with six. Among the top-nominated series are “The Bear,” “Shogun” and “Only Murders in the Building.”

Viola Davis will receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for outstanding contributions in entertainment. Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett special achievement in television award.

The show will be broadcast live on CBS and available to stream on Paramount.
