(29 Oct 1974) RR7443 WORLD FOOD CRISIS
From November 5th to 16th 1974, experts from many
nations will meet in Rome for the United Nations
World Food Conference. According to UN studies,
460 million people are dying for lack of food and many
millions more suffer varying degrees of malnutrition.
Inflation, population increase and the steep rise in oil
prices are making matters rapidly worse. This report
draws on film from all over the globe to explain how
the crisis arose – and how it might be solved, and
includes an interview with the Conference’s Deputy
Secretary-General, Sartaj Aziz.
