“This place, in the past, it used to be a very important, strategically important place during the Ottoman Empire, and they used it, basically, as a huge fortress. The remains of the fortress are still on the top of this hill. Later, in the late (19)60s the Yugoslav army started drilling the hill so, actually, they used this place as a military base or, let’s say, a military hangar for 25- 26 jets. It was like that up to (19)99. Later, in November 2007, big reconstruction was done here, and the place was originally turned from the military base into the wine cellar.”

During the (19)60s, there was another vineyard on the other side of town but this huge vineyard here, more than two-thirds of it was grown between (19)68 and (19)72, about 1,500 hectares. Later, we continued growing more and more, so obviously today, it is still the biggest one in the whole of Europe in one single piece.”
