Now with the fall of the Assad regime, some of the country’s minorities fear reprisals under the new Syrian leadership. Syria’s Shiite Muslim minority, many of whom supported deposed dictator Bassar al-Assad, are fleeing the country. Thousands have been crossing the border into neighboring Lebanon.
