STORYLINE:
People in Lebanon welcomed the Christmas season with markets and parades on Tuesday, following the ceasefire that ended nearly 14 months of war between Israel-Hezbollah.
Streets in Beirut have been decorated with Christmas trees and illuminated at night to celebrate the holiday season.
"We the Lebanese love a joyful atmosphere, we never say no to any occasion. We love life," said Beirut resident Nancy Keumjia.
Lebanese families visited a crowded Beirut Christmas market which offered items and gifts created by Lebanese designers.
Tens of thousands of Lebanese people are expected to come from abroad to celebrate with their families and friends.
Israel and Lebanon-based Hezbollah militants began a ceasefire in late November.
The ceasefire ended nearly 14 months of war between Israel and Hezbollah, capped by an intensified Israeli bombardment since late September and ground invasion that killed hundreds of Hezbollah members and civilians in Lebanon and sent more than 1.4 million fleeing their homes.
The ceasefire calls for an initial two-month halt to fighting and requires Hezbollah to end its armed presence in southern Lebanon, while Israeli troops are to return to their side of the border.
