"Hi, my name is Jaimie Ding, and I’m a reporter at the Associated Press. Here’s the latest development in the wave of sexual assault allegations against the rapper Sean Diddy Combs, which is now being linked to fellow rapper Jay-Z. Jay-Z says that a new rape allegation made against him is part of an extortion attempt. The allegation comes as part of a lawsuit from a woman who alleges that Sean Combs raped her at an awards show after-party in 2000 when she was 13. Her lawyer amended the lawsuit on Sunday to include Jay-Z and a new allegation that he was at the party and also participated in the sexual assault. Jay-Z has responded in a statement calling these allegations idiotic and heinous in nature. He’d previously anonymously sued the woman’s lawyer in California, alleging that the attorney was trying to blackmail him by threatening to make the rape allegations public unless he agreed to a legal settlement. His lawyer also argued on Monday that the woman, who was only identified as Jane Doe, should have to make her identity public or have her lawsuit dismissed. The woman is being represented by a famous trial attorney in Houston named Tony Buzbee, who is representing around 120 men and women in allegations of sexual misconduct against Sean Combs."
