"We have reached the seventh edition of the 100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican. This year, the number has grown significantly: we now have approximately 130 nativity scenes from over 21 countries around the world. We find the most diverse materials that ignite people’s imagination to give voice to that unique and essential mystery of today’s history: the message of peace brought by the birth of Jesus of Nazareth"

"We created the Jubilee Boat, so-called because it is a nativity scene inside a wooden boat, which comes from the municipality of Capraia e Limite, the birthplace of Italian rowing and boating, with the first rowing club in Italy. Drawing on this local identity, we created a nativity scene within the boat, incorporating the Jubilee logo, which will soon be inaugurated by the Holy Father. The sails are made of aluminium with the logo’s colours and the inscription ‘peregrinantes in spem,’ (Pilgrims in Hope) echoing the Jubilee’s theme"

"To represent this scene, I used very simple natural materials. The base material is polystyrene, and then I applied plaster, cement, glue, and vinyl glue—essentially all recycled materials. This is also a message: with a little effort, we can recycle and give new life to things considered waste."

"We are very happy to be here, the first time that Brazil has a nativity scene here in the exposition, of the presepi (Italian Nativity scene). This particular nativity scene belongs to Rio de Janeiro. It’s a project created by the Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer makes with artisans and craftsmen with natural fibres. It is inspired by ‘Laudato Si’ (Book) from Pope Francis, and we are very pleased to be here, and to have this kind of work, with our culture here in the Vatican."
