“I heard the boom at my work’s place, I’m here at Merchavim School, two minutes away from here, but we didn’t really understand what it was. We were sure that it was an ultra-sonic boom that we heard. I got a call from one of the neighbors within a few minutes asking what was going on at your house, I asked what is happening at my house? She said there is smoke coming out of your balcony, something happened there, something exploded.”

“I left everything, took the keys, drove. It is in the 16th floor, I see the smoke from a distance coming out from our balcony. “There was a sudden whistle that lasted about 3 seconds, then a crazy boom. I was sitting in a chair and I flew backwards. I couldn’t understand what happened, I really flew to the shelter instinctively, then I heard a lot of screaming from outside. So I just thought the house above me was on fire. We went out, we fled fast out, and that is it."

STORYLINE:
The Israeli military said on Monday that a drone that appeared to have originated from Yemen, hit a city in central Israel.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Videos posted by Israeli news sites showed a large burst of smoke erupting from a high-rise apartment building.
The military said sirens were not sounded to warn of the incoming drone.
Iran-backed militants in Yemen have been attacking Israel since Hamas’ assault on Israel in October 2023.
Their drones have at times evaded Israel’s sophisticated aerial defense system.
