STORYLINE:
U.S. First Lady Jill Biden arrived in Qatar as she continued her final foreign tour on Thursday.
Stepping off the plane, she was met by officials before being driven away to start the penultimate leg of her final overseas tour.
She is set to visit the Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and will participate in the Qatar Forum.
After that, she’ll fly to Paris and join President-elect Donald Trump and other dignitaries in celebrating the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral before returning to Washington.
The small Gulf state has played a key role in mediation efforts to push for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar has been strongly advocating for an end to the ongoing war in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the return of Israeli detainees held by Hamas.
