STORYLINE:
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declined to comment on the brief martial law in South Korea, saying it was Seoul’s “domestic affair”.
Wang, also director of the ruling party’s central committee’s foreign affairs office, was asked to comment on what happened the night over Tuesday and Wednesday in Seoul while walking out of an event in Beijing.
“As I have just answered, this is a domestic affair of South Korea,” Wang responded, without any further comments.
China’s foreign ministry has always claimed not to comment on the internal affairs of other countries to avoid suspicion of interfering with them.
