Kosovo Serbs are continuing to pack up and leave their homes across the province despite K-FOR attempts to persuade them to stay.
Even in their heartlands, such as Kosovo Polje, Serbs have been preparing to move out and head for the border.
They fear reprisals by ethnic Albanians returning to the region.

The local Serbs community of Kosovo Polje gathered at the Orthodox Church to attend mass.

But the regular service was also used to remember Jovica Stamenkovic, a local man.
Stamenkovic was one of three Serbs found dead a few days ago at Pristina University.

After the service, his mother and father greeted mourners outside to hand out the traditional shot of alcohol.

They are left to mourn the loss of their son as much of the remaining community prepares to leave.
They are being forced to stay in Kosovo because they simply don’t have enough money to flee.

Ever since K-FOR’s peacekeeping operation began and ethnic Albanians have started returning to the Kosovo local Serbs have been leaving the area.
So far, few Serbs trust the ability of the NATO force to maintain law and order and prevent the returning refugees from carrying out revenge attacks.

Those who can afford to go are packing up and heading out.
This convoy left Kosovo Polje on Sunday.

This Serb man says he does not know where he and his family will go. He says the K-L-A gave them no choice and that they were told they have 24 hours to leave.

Kosovo Polje is historically significanct to the Serbs.
It was here that Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic made his first nationalist speech.
But today, it is a place which they are rushing to leave.
