STORYLINE:
Demonstrators launched fireworks at the Georgian parliament building in Tbilisi on Sunday during the fourth day of protests across the country over the government’s decision to suspend negotiations to join the European Union.
Thousands gathered outside the parliament on Sunday night, throwing stones and setting off fireworks as police deployed water cannons and tear gas.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry said on Sunday that at least 27 protesters, 16 police and one media worker were hospitalized.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that “any violation of the law will be met with the full rigor of the law.”
