French PM risks no confidence vote after forcing through budget | BBC News

French Prime Minister Michel Barnier has used special powers to push through a social security budget bill without a vote by MPs.

It is a move expected to trigger a vote of no confidence in his minority government.

The government is unlikely to survive the vote, which the radical left France Unbowed (LFI) opposition party said it would trigger on Monday afternoon.

Marine le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) said it would support the no-confidence vote which could take place as early as Wednesday.
