What would Volkswagen factory closures mean for the German car industry? | DW News

Workers at Volkswagen have launched rolling strikes in an escalating dispute at one of Germany’s biggest employers. Their union IG Metall called the action in protest against planned wage cuts and possible factory closures. The car-maker says it’s being hit by spiralling manufacturing costs and stiff competition from China – despite paying out billions of euros in dividends.
