Syrian army retreats as rebels storm into Aleppo | DW News

Rebel forces have reignited Syria’s long-simmering civil war, with largely Islamist fighters storming into the country’s second-largest city. The Syrian army concedes it has lost control of large parts of Aleppo, which it had held for eight years. It’s the biggest flareup in years in a civil war that has seen involvement by Russia, Iran, the US, Turkey and Israel.
