“What you’re seeing is a space capsule that traveled 1.4 million miles to the moon and back. It was actually the crew module for the Artemis I mission and now that it came back safely, it completed the great mission, we’re using it here to test it against the environments we would see if we ever had to use the launch abort system.”

STORYLINE:
A space capsule that traveled 1.4 million miles around the moon was on display Thursday at a NASA facility in Ohio.
NASA and Lockheed Martin are continuing post-mission testing at NASA’s facility in Sandusky on the Orion space capsule after it completed the Artemis I mission.
The capsule underwent testing on its launch abort system, docking mechanism and systems to ensure that it’s ready for a future crewed Artemis mission, according to a statement from NASA.
Data from the results of these tests will be used as the organization conducts its planning of the crewed mission that Artemis II will take, according to NASA.
