Security forces in Pakistan have launched a major raid on supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan who had come together in the capital Islamabad. Thousands of protesters had forced their way into the capital’s government district, defying a ban. Officials say hundreds have been arrested in the crackdown. Several people were killed and dozens wounded in earlier clashes between protesters and police. Khan’s supporters are demanding his release from prison, after he was arrested last year on corruption charges which he denies.
