7. SOUNDBITE (English) Philip McMaster, sustainability advocate better known as SustainaClaus:
"So here’s the problem: The older generation, the business world, is holding on like a bony hand on to the old ways of doing business. The young people are looking at how can we survive. I’m not young, but how do we survive, how does the young survive? And that’s why we say ‘make childhood great again’. If we focus on childhood and we focus on the generations to come, we will make better decisions."

STORYLINE:
A sustainability advocate who goes by the name ‘SustainaClaus’ has made an appearance at COP29 in Baku, calling for the world to "make childhood great again" by "focusing on the generations to come".
Philip McMaster pleaded with delegates – and adults around the world – to try to become more sustainable and caring in the coming holiday seasons, and to step up action.
It’s the 10th time McMaster is attending a United Nations annual climate talks as an environmental Santa Claus, hoping to convince attendees that governments are not doing enough to mitigate climate change.
With time running down, negotiators in Baku on Wednesday returned to the puzzle of finding a deal to bring far more money for vulnerable nations to adapt than wealthier countries have shown they’re willing to pay.
Vulnerable nations are seeking $1.3 trillion to deal with damage from climate change and to adapt to that change, including building out their own clean-energy systems.
Experts agree that at least $1 trillion is called for, but both figures are far more than the developed world has so far offered.
