8. SOUNDBITE(Arabic) Wissam Khalifa, local resident:
"I was at home, inside. I was going to the veranda, but before I even reached it — the army post is just below me — I didn’t feel anything except a massive light, and everything flew towards me. I was injured in the head, and I ran inside as glass was flying everywhere. I was slightly injured. This is a safe residential neighborhood. There is nothing here, nothing at all. And these martyrs from the army… there probably wasn’t even a gun at that post. Why did this strike happen? No one knows."

STORYLINE:
Lebanese civil defense forces on Wednesday went through the rubble at the site of an Israeli airstrike on a Lebanese army post that killed three soldiers in the south of the country a day earlier.
The strike heavily damaged the army post in the town of Sarafand near the coastal city of Saida.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed the deaths in a statement and said eight others were wounded in the strike on Tuesday, which struck without a warning.
The Lebanese army also confirmed the deaths of the three soldiers in a statement.
The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the attack.
On Wednesday, another Lebanese army soldier was killed by an Israeli airstrike that hit his vehicle on the Burj al-Muluk – Qalaa road in southern Lebanon, the army said in a statement.
There was no immediate statement from the Israeli military on this attack as well.
Wissam Khalifa, a resident of Sarafand who lives next to the army post and was injured in the strike, said he was shocked that it was targeted.
The two strikes mark the latest in a series of Israeli attacks targeting the Lebanese military.
On Sunday, an Israeli strike on a Lebanese army post in Mari, in the Hasbaya province, killed two soldiers and critically injured three others.
In response, the Lebanese government announced on Monday plans to file a formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council on the “repeated attacks” on the Lebanese army, citing repeated violations of international law.
The Lebanese army has not been an active participant in the fighting between Israeli forces and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah over the past 13 months, but more than 40 soldiers have been killed in the conflict.
Altogether, more than 3,500 people have been killed by Israeli fire in Lebanon since Oct. 8, 2023, the vast majority of them in the past two months.
