Unlike many luxury bags, this one was not crafted with leather. This was made from bacteria. Modern Synthesis, the company that created this purse, says there is demand for the reinvention of materials. The company says it feeds bacteria with agricultural sugars, which naturally converts to nanocellulose. Nanocellulose fibers are about 8 times stronger than steel, which gives designers a sturdy base to create all sorts of styles that are free from animal products and fossil fuels.
