The mother of 24-year-old Harshita Brella, whose body was found in the boot of a car in London, has told the BBC: “I just want justice for my daughter”.
An international manhunt is underway for Ms Brella’s husband, Pankaj Lamba, who has been named by British police as the prime suspect. Detectives believe he has fled the country. The couple had been living in Corby in the English county of Northamptonshire after arriving in the UK from India.
Harshita Brella’s mother Sudesh Kumari spoke through tears to the BBC from the family home in Delhi. The family said Ms Brella had been "very excited" to move to the UK in April after an arranged marriage with Pankaj Lamba. A legal wedding was held in August 2023 in India and then the couple held their traditional Indian ceremony in March 2024 before leaving for the UK the following month.
Ms Brella’s father, Satbir Brella, said: "I want my son-in-law to be brought to justice and I want my daughter’s body brought home."
