STORYLINE:
Dolls and toys are spread under the rubble of a residential building in southern Lebanon that was destroyed after an Israeli airstrike hit it on Monday.
The attack on Saksakiyeh town in Sidon province killed 11 people and wounded seven others, the Lebanese civil defense said.
Most of those casualties were women and children, Lebanon’s state media said, adding that rescue teams were still searching for more missing people under the rubble.
Hassan Shomar stood by the building and was hoping to find the body of his sister who lived there.
"My brother-in-law, my sister, and her kids are here. Thank God, we found my brother-in-law’s body. My niece, we found body parts of hers. We have been looking for my sister since yesterday," Shomar said.
The strike also damaged nearby buildings.
Hussein Siblini, a neighbor in an adjacent building stood in his kitchen that was heavily damaged.
A fridge was there without a door, and rooms without walls.
"These are children’s toys," Siblini yelled while holding a bicycle covered with ash.
He held clothes of children and said "they say there was a militant present. Where are the military clothes? These are all of children and children’s toys."
The neighbor volunteered with rescue workers to find the residents of the building that was struck.
