2. SOUNDBITE (English) Matt (last name not given), London resident from U.S.:
“Yeah I’m very worried about it. It’s definitely not…to me it’s not the way that the country has been committed to, and the way it really should be committed towards the path and towards the global climate in general.”
3. Wide of Bank area
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Matt (last name not given), London resident from U.S.:
(Asked about causes for optimism) “To be honest I’m struggling a little bit with some of that. But I’m trying to stay optimistic towards just what the process will look like for the country that I come from. But to me it’s a tough day, it’s not my first choice for sure.”
5. Dome of St Paul’s Cathedral
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Richard Lee, works in finance sector:
“Not entirely surprised, I think if you look at the financial markets they’ve been predicting a Trump win for quite a time. I think there was a momentary bounce towards Harris in the last week, but it fizzled out pretty much as quick as it showed up. Would I have liked to have seen a Harris government? I think a lot of people would have done. But, you know, maybe I think Trump coming in forces people to be a bit more realistic about what they need to do to look after their own interests rather than hoping for a benign U.S. government.”

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Richard Lee, works in finance sector:
“The difficulty is not knowing what he will do and what he won’t do because he does have a track record of being crazy. And who knows what he’s going to be like the second time? Clearly, he changed the White House more than the White House changed him the first time. Is he slightly older, wiser and a bit more measured? I don’t know.”

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Megan (last name not given), international student:
“I feel like everybody should leave it up to the women to kind of choose what they want for their own bodies. I guess for a man to say things like ‘you should be pro-choice’ or to kind of advocate against that, well, I don’t really support that view.”

STORYLINE:
Some Londoners in the city’s financial district greeted Donald Trump’s election victory with caution on Wednesday.
Richard Lee, who works in the finance sector, said that while he was "not entirely surprised" by the result, he had reservations over what a second Trump term will look like.
“The difficulty is not knowing what he will do and what he won’t do because he does have a track record of being crazy," said Lee.
"And who knows what he’s going to be like the second time? Clearly, he changed the White House more than the White House changed him the first time. Is he slightly older, wiser and a bit more measured? I don’t know,” he said.
Matt, a London resident from U.S., said he was struggling to stay optimistic.
"I’m trying to stay optimistic towards just what the process will look like for the country that I come from. But to me it’s a tough day, it’s not my first choice for sure,” said Matt.
