STORYLINE:
1. Indonesian President Prabowo will pay a state visit to China from November 8 to 10. Will any agreements be signed, and what are the key topics to be discussed?
China and Indonesia are good neighbors across the sea and partners with a shared future. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Indonesia relations have maintained strong development momentum, entering a new stage of building a community with a shared future. President Prabowo, elected in March this year, made China the destination of his first visit after taking office, reflecting the high importance he places on developing bilateral relations and highlighting the high level of China-Indonesia relations.
President Xi Jinping will hold a welcoming ceremony for President Prabowo, and the two heads of state will hold talks. Premier Li Qiang and Chairman Zhao Leji will also meet with President Prabowo separately. China is willing to work with Indonesia to use this visit as an opportunity to strengthen high-level political mutual trust, deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation, and promote the construction of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, injecting strong momentum into the modernization of both countries and contributing to regional and global development and prosperity. 2. China announced today that Italian President Sergio Mattarella will pay a state visit to China from November 7 to 12. Can you provide details of the visit arrangements, and how does China evaluate the current China-Italy relations? What are the expectations for this visit?
During President Mattarella’s visit to China, President Xi Jinping will hold talks with him to outline the future development blueprint for China-Italy relations. Premier Li Qiang and Chairman Zhao Leji will also meet with him separately.
China and Italy are both ancient civilizations and important global economies. The friendly cooperation between the two countries has a deep public foundation, in line with the common interests of both sides, and contributes to the healthy development of China-EU relations and world stability and prosperity.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy. The successive visits of Italian Prime Minister Meloni and President Mattarella to China highlight the high-level development of China-Italy relations.
China is ready to work with Italy, guided by the consensus of the two leaders, to further deepen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and cultural exchanges, promote mutual learning among civilizations, and inject more stability into a changing world.
3. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Monday that the death toll in Lebanon has exceeded 3,000, twice the number of deaths in the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. What is China’s comment on this? Can China play a role in the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah?
China is closely following the current situation in Lebanon. We oppose actions that infringe on Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity and condemn all actions that harm innocent civilians. We call on the relevant parties to take immediate measures to de-escalate the situation and prevent further escalation of regional tensions. China will continue to work with the international community to play a constructive role in cooling down the situation.
