13. SOUNDBITE (English) King Abdullah II, King of Jordan:
"Your visit to Jordan today reflects the special relationship that I believe we can build on between our two nations. We’ve always had a cordial relationship, but I think there’s so much opportunities, especially your kind concentration on the business roundtable that’s planned for tomorrow, which will allow, I think for us to – although there’s some distances between the two countries – to establish ideas of bringing our two peoples together. I always say that politics is a is not one that really builds bridges. It’s the economy when we become more and more dependent on each other. And again, as we had just discussed, not only the economic and political relationship, but looking at military and intelligence cooperation – that is very very important."

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Alar Karis, President of Estonia:
"We are here to tighten our contacts, and you mentioned, in different fields. And we have a very prominent delegation of businesspeople along – including defense industry, and health care and so forth. So, probably discuss the matter tomorrow morning in this business meeting. So, once again, thank you very much. And we can’t avoid also a political situation and security situation in both regions here in Middle East and also back in Europe. So, times are turbulent, and our task is to find the solutions to this situation."

STORYLINE:
Estonian President Alar Karis met on Monday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and discussed strengthening ties with the Arab country during his first official visit to Amman.
After an official welcoming ceremony, Karis and Abdullah held talks attended by Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein.
"Your visit to Jordan today reflects the special relationship that I believe we can build on," Abdullah told Karis.
Amman will host the Jordanian-Estonian Business Forum on Tuesday to address cooperation in various areas including defense industries and health care, a statement by Jordan’s Royal Court said.
Karis said he is accompanied by "very prominent delegation of businesspeople" during his four-day trip which started on Sunday.
The two leaders also discussed developments in the region as the Middle East conflicts continue.
Despite growing pressure from the United States and others in the international community for a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon, intensified Israeli strikes against the Hezbollah militant group are expanding beyond Lebanon’s border areas.
Israel is also fighting a seemingly endless war against Hamas in northern Gaza.
"Times are turbulent, and our task is to to find the solutions," Karis told Abdullah.
