Since 2009, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Mail Order Pharmacy has been rated “among the best” mail-order pharmacies in customer satisfaction according to the J.D. Power U.S. Pharmacy Study.
VA’s Mail Order Pharmacy processes approximately 137 million outpatient prescriptions each year. That means for each day of operation, 550,000 prescriptions are processed and nearly 500,000 Veterans receive a package of prescriptions in the mail daily.
Prescription orders entered at each Medical Center are electronically transmitted daily to the CMOP Central Database, which are then sent to the appropriate CMOP based on geographic location of a Veterans servicing Medical Center. The local CMOP fills the prescriptions and then works with delivery system partners to get the prescriptions into the mail stream and delivered to your residence in a timely manner.
The Charleston CMOP (highlighted in this video) is one of seven automated prescription fulfillment locations. The Charleston CMOP system was recently modernized and activated to enhance capacity, efficiency and safety. The remaining six are undergoing or about to undergo modernization.
Along with convenience for Veterans, VA’s utilization of VA Mail Order Pharmacy results in exceptional accuracy and lower processing costs than filling prescriptions at each VA Medical Center. Learn more about VA’s world class pharmacy benefits management services: https://www.pbm.va.gov/
