2. SOUNDBITE (English) Jeanne Birosik, a voter from Lehigh County:
“We always vote Election Day, but in the 2020 election, when I got there, they said I had already voted and I didn’t. So, I also don’t want to leave that up to chance again either.”
Reporter’s question, “And what happened there? ”
Birosik, “They couldn’t tell me what happened there. They just said it appears that you’ve already voted, you can fill in a ballot, but it’s provisional. So, I’m not really sure that, that ever made it in or how they suspect that I voted. I just never could get an answer to that. So, this just seemed like a safer way to go about it.”

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Nijairy Dandrade, a voter from Lehigh County:
“It’s my first time doing it this way. I couldn’t vote four years ago because I was actually hospitalized. So, I didn’t know if they did it this way four years ago. So this is new. But it is convenient. I have a two year old. I can’t stand in line for whatever amount of time with him, so this is convenient for me.”

STORYLINE:
In Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, officials asked a judge to extend the deadline for an in-person voting option by one day, through Wednesday, because road closures in downtown Allentown around Trump’s rally blocked access to the elections office. The judge agreed.
Inside the Lehigh County Government Center, a steady stream of voters took advantage of the one-day extension, descending to the basement office of the voter registration office in Allentown to apply for a mail-in ballot, fill it out and turn it in.
County elections workers explained the process as voters stepped into a crowded hallway.
Jeanne Birosik typically votes on Election Day, but in 2020, she said, she showed up to her polling place and was incorrectly told she’d already voted. She filled out a provisional ballot that time, but didn’t want to leave anything to chance for this election. Another voter, Nijairy Dandrade, said the process is a convenient option for voters like her.
