STORYLINE:
Saudi Arabia hosted the first session of a meeting on Wednesday which aims to find a solution to establish a Palestinian state amid the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Representatives from about 90 countries and international organizations were gathering in Riyadh for "The Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two States Solution" talks.
The Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini, who attended Wednesday’s talks, emphasized the necessity of the two-state solution as a framework endorsed by the international community.
"The two-state solution is the internationally agreed framework on what is an intrinsic part of a successful, fair condition," Lazzarini said.
The meeting in Riyadh serves as the first in a series, with future gatherings planned for Brussels, Cairo, Amman, Oslo, and Ankara.
