Hezbollah appoints deputy chief Naim Kassem as new leader | DW News

The militant group Hezbollah has announced deputy chief Naim Kassem will succeed its slain leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The group has released a statement, saying Kassem was elected for the role due to his ‘adherence to the principles and goals of Hezbollah’. The 71-year-old replaces Nasrallah who was killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut in September.
