The anti-government "Act-Up" group on Friday (1/12) marked World
AIDS Day with a protest in Republique Square in central Paris.
"Act-Up" is critical of what it considers to be the French
government’s lax attitude to the AIDS crisis gripping France.
During the protest, a mountaineer climbed the square’s statue and
draped a banner proclaiming "Shame on France" over the original
"Honneur de France" inscription.
