STORYLINE:
Several thousands of people marched Sunday in the Belgian capital Brussels to protest the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and the war in Lebanon.
Demonstrators, which came from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds, waved Palestinian and Lebanese flags, while demanding an immediate cease-fire in both Gaza and Lebanon and a full stop of Israeli military operations.
Many were holding posters reading ”stop the genocide,” “free Palestine,” and “stop arming Israel.”
Sunday’s demonstration is the biggest of its kind of in Belgium since Israel invaded Lebanon earlier this month.
Several similar demonstrations have taken place in Brussels since October 7, 2023, where tens of thousands of people protested peacefully.
Earlier this month, thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets in major European cities, including Paris, Rome, London and around the globe to call for a cease-fire during the first anniversary of the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
