“The arrogance of power cannot achieve security and peace for any country (referring to Israel), and we have many lessons from the past in this region, so we can be convinced that whatever power we reach cannot achieve security and peace unless there is a return of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. There is no security or stability in this region without the establishment of the Palestinian state.“

“Regarding Resolution 1701, there is certainly a favourable environment, the conditions are completely favourable for the rapid implementation of this U.N. resolution on the ground. What is important is the availability of political will, especially on the Israeli side, to deploy the Lebanese National Army. This aggression must stop immediately and there must be a cease-fire.“

“Our commitment to Lebanon, which I want to remind you, is a sovereign state in the concert of nations and that is why we demand an end to the violence that is taking place and the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and, of course, the cessation of the unacceptable attacks that go against international law and international humanitarian law, against UNIFIL which we have condemned in the strongest terms and which is an attack against international humanitarian law, an attack against the United Nations."

“The immediate permanent cease-fire in Gaza and a truce in Lebanon. This is the request that Spain, together with Egypt and many other partners in the international community, have been making from the very first moment that this violence and this war broke out. Firstly, in Gaza and secondly in Lebanon, which once again I would like to stress that we are talking about a sovereign state."

STORYLINE:
Both Egypt and Spain renewed calls on Wednesday for cease-fires in Gaza and Lebanon.
As well as calling for an immediate stop in the fighting, Egyptian foreign minister Badr Abdelatty stressed there would be "no security or stability in this region without the establishment of the Palestinian state".
