STORYLINE:
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he was looking forward to US President Joe Biden’s visit to Germany this week.

Speaking at the German parliament in Berlin on Wednesday, Scholz said he was "grateful" for Biden’s efforts in improving US-Germany relations.

Biden is heading to Germany this week.

His trip was initially scheduled for last week but it was postponed due to Hurricane Milton in the US.

A White House statement published on the 24th of September said the trip’s aim was "further strengthening the close bond the United States and Germany share as allies and friends".

"The President will reinforce the U.S. and German commitment to democracy and countering antisemitism and hatred, strengthen the enduring people-to-people ties between our countries, and advance cooperation on economics, trade, and technology. He will also express his appreciation to Germany for supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression", the statement said.
