Israel strikes Lebanon’s capital Beirut for first time in five days | BBC News

Israel has carried our air strikes on the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut – in what is the first strike on the Lebanese capital in five days.

The IDF said it hit an underground warehouse used by Hezbollah to store weapons.

Meanwhile, it says 50 rockets were launched towards the northern Israeli town of Safed overnight.

The strikes in Beirut came after Lebanese authorities reported that Israeli air strikes killed people across the east and south of the country.

Five people, including the local mayor, were also killed by Israeli air strikes on the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh.
