STORYLINE:
Protesters in Jordan gathered outside the Israeli embassy on Monday on the first anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

“We are here to celebrate the anniversary of the 7th of October. This day, where we consider as a victory for all Arab countries," Abdel-Fattah al-Kilani, leader of the Future and Life party, said as he attended the demonstration.

More than a thousand protesters chanted slogans in support of Hamas and in support of the October 7 attacks.

The protesters called on the Jordanian government to end the peace agreement between Jordan and Israel and to stop diplomatic and trade relations with the Israeli government.

The demonstrators called for imposing a siege around the Israeli embassy and storming the building.

A member of the Islamic Action Front party said that security forces used tear gas to disperse hundreds who tried to reach the embassy building, and more than 20 demonstrators were arrested.

The Jordanian security deployed hundreds of officers and closed all roads leading to the embassy.
