STORYLINE:
Israel continued its intensive airstrikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, striking many villages and Beirut suburbs.
According to the Lebanese health minister, over 1,000 people have died in the last couple of weeks of intensives strikes and shelling.
Nearly a quarter of them were women and children and more than 5,000 others were injured.
Israel and Hezbollah have traded fire across the Lebanon border almost daily since Oct. 8, the day after Hamas sent fighters into Israel and sparked the war in Gaza.
The streets of Nabatieh, one of the largest cities in southern Lebanon, were strewn with rubble and debris from collapsed buildings.
The number of casualties in Nabatieh was unknown.
The airstrikes have forced more than 118,000 people to flee their homes in Lebanon since Sept. 23, mostly in the south, according to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
